Rev. Herbert L. Brooks

My Story

Herbert L. Brooks attended Wiley College in Marshall, Texas, and Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AR., where he earned a B.A. Degree in Physical Education, Health, and Recreation.   He received a Master of Science in Education from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in Secondary Educational Administration.  Additional studies were completed in Secondary Educational Administration where a Superintendent’s Certification was earned from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. He retired from the Pulaski County Special School District with 34 years of service as teacher/coach and administrator.

 

Herbert Brooks been a member of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church family, located at Roosevelt and Main Street, Little Rock, AR. since 1973. He accepted his calling to the Preaching ministry at St. John in the year of our Lord, 1999 and Ordained to the Gospel Ministry September 15, 2002.  He is presently an Associate Minister at St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

 

He is a Life member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., and a Financial Member for 40 years with the local Pi Omicron Chapter, Little Rock, Arkansas. He has served as a “Big Brother, with the “Big Brothers” Organization of Little Rock; and has served with “Compassion in Action” a re-entry program for men re-entering society from short-term incarcerations by the courts from jail, as a teacher and/or group facilitator.

 

Married for 47 years to Royce A. (Bullock) Brooks, now deceased, to this union they have two daughters, Dionne Lachell Brooks Colbert, and Erica Jenice Brooks.
